The museum galleries are suited to the study of several areas of the curriculum including, Geography, Science and Design and Technology. There is something for all age groups at all key stages; from key stage one where simple interactives explain how a mill wheel is turned or real boats can be explored at first hand, to displays explaining the water cycle, water treatment and the supply of drinking water or the properties of materials such as iron, wood or fibre glass used to build boats.
Education Centre and Facilities
In addition to the
public galleries, the museum building includes
specific education areas, including a dedicated schools room,
cloakroom, toilets and lunch room. The museum is set beside the
river in beautiful meadow park land offering many opportunities
for field work. Marsh lock is a short walk away and demonstrations
can be arranged to show the lock in operation. Boat trips of about
an hour between Marsh and Hambledon locks along the Henley reach
can be booked through the museum.
